The trustees take this opportunity to say that they have em- ployed Mr. Henry Ross of Newton, Mass., a gentleman of much experience, to lay out the grounds, and it was done in a very satisfactory manner.
It was dedicated October 2d, 1884, with appropriate services, and is now ready for burial purposes. The ‘Selectmen have laid out and built an avenue from School street to the ceme- tery, the land being generously donated by Mr. G. G. Larkin.

REPORT OF
TRUSTEES OF PUBLIC LIBRARY.
To the Board of Selectmen of Merrimac :-
GENTLEMEN : -- In presenting to you the ninth annual report of the Merrimac Public Library, it is gratifying to the trustees that so favorable a condition of the Library can be shown.
During the year some radical changes have been made in the management of the Library, but only those that were deemed best for its usefulness and the benefit of its'patrons. As inti- mated in the report of the trustees for last year, it was found necessary to revise, re-arrange and repair the Library, prepara- tory to issuing a new catalogue. For this purpose the rooms were closed to the public June 28th, and a recess taken until Sept. 6th. All books issued were called in and each one ac- counted for. Several years have passed since this work had been done, making the work of this year more than was antici- pated.
