REPORT OF THE

BOARD OF FIRE ENGINEERS.

To the Board of Selectmen of Merrimac-Gentlemen :

We have again to congratulate the citizens of Merrimac on another year of almost absolute freedom from fires. There have been but four alarms during the year, to all of which the department responded promptly and efficiently.

The first fire occurred on the evening of March 12, when the pump house at the Boston & Maine Railroad station was completely destroyed, at an estimated loss of $125.

The second fire was in the dry goods store of James D. Pike, on the evening of April 7; cause probably spontaneous combustion : insurance paid, $25 on building, and $159.60 on stock.
