Respectfully submitted, JAMES B. SHAW, Treasurer.
The Soldiers' Memorial Fund on deposit in the Palmer Savings Bank now amounts to . $11,605.72
Report of the Selectmen.
The Selectmen respectfully submit the following report :
The appropriation for contingencies has been overdrawn on account of our having been called upon to pay old bills amounting to several hundred dollars that were contracted by previous boards.
The fact that we have had twelve months of almost constant rain must make it apparent to all that this has been an exceptionally bad year to keep our roads in good condition. We have expended quite a large amount in grading and hardening the road at Blanchardville, and the construction of the sidewalk at Bondsville necessitated quite an outlay in grading the street at that place. Aside from this we have been obliged to use the entire appropriation in ordinary repairs.
The bridges in town are in good condition, excepting the iron bridge at Thorndike, which ought to be replanked at once.
We have repaired a large number of defective culverts and rebuilt and extended several sewers in different parts of the town.
The main sewer at the Depot village should the coming season be extended to the river, as the sediment accumulated at its mouth near Water street has become a nuisance.
