TOWN WARRANT


Article 1. To hear the report of the Finance Commitee and act there on.


Article 2. To act on reports of town officers.


Article 3. To see if the town will appropriate a sum of money for the Public Library including the Dog fund.


Article 4. To fix the compensation for the tax collector and treasurer for the ensuing year.


Article 5. To choose all necessary officers, one Select- man and Overseer of the Poor for three years, one Assessor for three years, one Burial Ground Commissioner for 3 years, one School Committee member for three years, one Trustee of the Library for three years, Town Treasurer for one year, Collector of Taxes for one year, Auditor for one year, three Fish Wardens for one year, Road Surveyor for one year, Moderator for one year, Tree Warden for one year, seven Constables for one year, three Oyster Wardens for one year and also to bring in your ballots on the question ;- Shall licenses be granted for the sale of certain non-intoxicating beverages in this town. The form of ballot to be yes or no.


Article 6. To raise and appropriate sums of money for highways and bridges, including an amount for bridge tender.


Article 7. To raise and appropriate a sum of money for schools, including supplies, high school tuition, salary of superintendent, transportation of scholars, and repairs on buildings.


Article 8. To raise and appropriate a sum of money for salaries of Town Officers, incidentals, interest, fire depart- ment, public welfare, old age assistance, soldiers' relief and aid to dependent children.


Article 9. To see if the town will vote to raise and ap- propriate definite sums of money for the administration ex- penses including supplies for the various departments of the town or act thereon.


Article 10. To raise and appropriate a sum of money to be expended in suppressing the gypsy and brown tail moths, including private work.

Article 11. To choose a memorial committee and ap- propriate a sum of money for the same.


Article 12. To raise and appropriate a sum of money to be used in the cemetery and on the care of graves of soldiers and sailors.


Article 13. To raise and appropriate the sum of $685.10 for the Bristol County Tuberculosis Hospital maintenance and repair.


Article 14. To raise and appropriate a sum of money for snow removal in the year 1940.


Article 15. To see if the town will vote the amount per hour to be paid for labor, trucks, and horses for highway department work or act thereon.


Article 16. To see if the town will vote to set the amount per hour to be paid for labor, trucks, and autos rela- tive to the fire department.


Article 17. To see what action the town will take in regard to the removal of snow and to set the amount per hour to be paid for labor and trucks.


Article 18. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to be used for W. P. A. purposes or act thereon.


Article 19. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of purchasing a road scraper or act thereon.


Article 20. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,650.00 to be paid on the principal of the School House note or act thereon.


Article 21. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for compensation insurance for town employees or act thereon.


Article 22. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money in anticipation of the revenue of the current financial year, and to issue a note or notes therefor, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44 of the General Laws, as amended.

Article 23. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to sell, at such time or times as may be deemed to be of benefit to the Town, certain parcels of land of low value taken by the Town at a sale held under the provisions of Sections 79 and 80 of Chapter 60 of the General Laws.


Article 24. To see if the Town will vote to approve the payment of certain unpaid bills of previous years; these bills, if approved, to be paid from current appropriations.


Article 25. To see if the Town will raise and appropri- ate the sum of $25.00 for mosquito control or act thereon.


Article 26. To elect a Finance Committee.


Article 27. To see if the Town will raise and appropri- ate a sum of money for repairs on the library and town hall or act thereon.


Article 28. To see if the Town will accept a set of by- laws which have already been approved by the town, the former vote of approval having not been properly recorded- this acceptance to be subject to the approval of the Attorney- General.


Article 29. To see if the Town will vote to sponsor a hot school lunch in the public schools the same to be handled as a WPA project or act thereon.


Article 30. To see what action the Town will take in regard to taking care of the public records of the town and provide for suitable town offices.


Article 31. To see if the town will approve a Farm to Market WPA project on Padelford Street beginning at the corner of Porter and Pine Streets easterly to Plain Street.


Article 32. To see if the Town will vote to appoint a committee to investigate for the purpose of seeing if a fair and impartial value of all personal and real estate is carried out by the Board of Assessors as required by law or to take any action deemed necessary by the town. This article has been requested by a petition of voters.


Article 33. To see if the Town will vote to appoint a committee to investigate the distribution of surplus commodi- ties or to take any action relative thereto. This article has been requested by a petition of voters.


Article 34. To act on any other business that may legally come before the meeting.
