The customary visit to the Almshouse was made on the first day of February, for the purpose of ap- praising the property of that institution, the amount of which is to be found in its appropriate place in the report.

The house and its surroundings presented the usual appearance of comfort, neatness and thrift. Nothing was seen of which to complain-much to commend.

The accompanying accounts, prepared by the Over- seers of the Poor, Selectmen and Treasurer, have been carefully examined ; vouchers for all orders drawn by the Selectmen, and for all moneys paid out by the Treasurer, were found to agree with the statements herewith presented.

It appears to us that the various trusts committed to those officers by the town have been discharged ably, honestly and economically.
