TOWN STABLES.

It was found necessary to purchase a new pair of horses in July, 1909, making three pair now owned by this department. The fact that all of the horses are now kept at one stable makes it im- possible to keep accurate separate accounts for each team and the whole expense is now placed in this department.

IPSWICH TOWN REPORT.

REPORT OF BOARD OF HEALTH FOR THE YEAR 1909.

Whole number of contagious and infectious diseases reported 43, classified as follows:

Diphtheria 7

Scarlet Fever 12

Measles 13

Tuberculosis. 7

Typhoid Fever 2

Whooping Cough 2

Deaths;

Diphtheria 2

Typhoid Fever 1

There have been no epidemics of these diseases, although there were twelve more cases reported than last year. They represented a smaller number of households, however, than were represented last year.

The general sanitary conditions of the town are about the same as they have been the last three years.

We take pleasure in noting one thing, and that is that the monthly reports of the analysis of the public water supply made by the State Board of Health show the water to be of excellent quality and purity, and above the average of the public water supplies of the State. It is a cause for congratulation that of the cases of diphtheria recently reported to the Board, none of them were con- nected with the public water supply, but used water from wells. This fact ought to silence the critics of the public water supply.

42.

IPSWICH TOWN REPORT.

The Agent's report which appears under its own heading deals at some length with sanitary matters, and will be found in- teresting reading.

Following are the expenditures by the Board for 1909.
