Warrant for the Annual Town Meeting.


To John M. Peabody, Constable of the Town of Middleton, in the County of Essex,


Greeting :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Mid- dleton qualified to vote in elections and in town affairs. to meet at the Town Hall in said Town, on MONDAY. the Third Day of March next. at nine o'clock in the forenoon. then and there to act on the following articles :


Art. 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meet- ing.


Art. 2. To choose all necessary town officers for the vear ensuing.


Art. 3. To see how much money the town will raise to defray town charges the ensuing year. and make appro- priations of the same.


Art. 4. To see how much money the town will raise to support schools the ensuing year.


Art. 5. To see how much money the town will raise to repair roads and bridges the ensuing year. and determine how the same shall be appropriated.


Art. 6. To act on a list of jurors, prepared and posted . by the Selectmen.


Art. 7. To see what action the town will take concern- ing the Cemetery.


Art. S. To see what action the town will take in rela- tion to letting the Town Hall.


Art. 9. To see if the town will authorize the Collector to use all means of collecting the taxes which the Town Treasurer may use when appointed Collector.


Art. 10. To see if the town will authorize the Treasurer. under the direction of the Selectmen, to hire such sums of money. in anticipation of the taxes. as may be necessary to meet current expenses.


Art. 11. To see if the town will make any compensa- tion to Patrick Donovan for damage sustained from defect in bridge.

Art. 12. To see if the town will repair or re-build the town pound.


Art. 13. To see if the town will provide runners for the hearse, and purchase ice-boxes for the preservation of the dead, before burial.


Art. 14. To hear and act upon the report of a commit- tee. appointed at a previous meeting to prepare regulations concerning the taking of fish from the waters of the Middle- ton pond.


Art. 15. To see what action the town will take for the prevention of fires, and in respect to election and compensa- tion of firemen.


Art. 16. To see if the town will accept the donation of one thousand dollars which the Hon. Charles L. Flint offers to make the town. for the purpose of founding a Free Public Library. on condition that the town raise the sum of four hundred dollars to defray necessary incidental expenses ; and to take any other action in relation to the same. that the town may think proper.


And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting at- tested copies thereof, one at the Town Hall, and one at the Post Office in said town. seven days at least. before holding said meeting.


Hereof fail not. and make due return of this warrant. with your doings thereon. to the Town Clerk at the time and place of meeting aforesaid.
