REPORT OF TRUSTEES.
The Trustees of Flint Public Library in this their first re. port, would congratulate the citizens of Middleton on the large and valuable accession of reading matter placed at their disposal by the generous donation of Hon. Charles L. Flint, and the gift of the books belonging to the Middleton Library Association. The former not only presented $1,000 to the town for a Public Library, but he has contributed over 400 volumes, including Reports of the Mass. State Board of Agriculture, of which he has been Secretary since 1853. These Reports contain much that is interesting. use- ful and instructive.
We are greatly indebted to Chas. O. Whitmore. Esq., of Boston, for a set of Appleton's Cyclopædia, which is in itself a complete library.
Hon. J. J. H. Gregory has kindly remembered us in a present of 22 volumes.
13
The History of Essex County was presented by J. H. Devereux Esq. It is a large and handsome volume, a valu- able addition to any library.
· We are deeply grateful to all who have favored us with contributions.
We trust that this Library, which has been started under such favorable circumstances, will constantly increase in size and value, thus being a power in promoting the intelli- gence of the community, and if "properly cherished and maintained, become a blessing not only to the present, but to future generations."
