FLINT PUBLIC LIBRARY.
TRUSTEES' REPORT.
As the time draws near for our Eleventh Annual Report, we are forcibly reminded of the changes which time brings in its ceaseless course.
Our last report was scarcely printed, before the sad in- telligence reached us that our generous patron, the one in honor of whom our Library was named, had passed away. At the Town meeting in March resolutions were passed in regard to his death, and it was voted that a portrait of Hon. Charles L. Flint be placed in the Library Room.
We expect that our accommodations will be increased in the near future, by having a new Library Building, as
24
$10,000 was provided for that purpose by Mr. Flint in his will, and also $5,000 for books and periodicals.
It was also voted at the March meeting that a life-size portrait of Mr. B. F. Emerson, who donated $10,000 to our Library to be known as the Emerson Fund, should be placed in the Library.
We were pained to learn in May of the death of William Weston while he was travelling in South America. He has always shown' a great interest in our welfare, and has pre- sented the Library with many valuable books.
The Board of Trustees met with a sad loss in August, by the death of Mr. Gilman A. Kimball, its Treasurer.
We are pleased to know that the readers of our Library books have not decreased in number, and we hope that a taste for good and useful reading will be cultivated by the people of this community, so that the full benefit of the Library will be realized.
