REPORT OF THE AUDITING COMMITTEE.
To the Inhabitants of the Town of Swampscott : -
In conformity with the by-laws of the town, the Auditing Committee, in discharge of their official duty, have the honor to submit this, the ninth annual report of the receipts and expendi- tures, and a schedule of the property belonging to the town.
The total amount of the bills paid during the year was $8674.47, including bills contracted by the former town government, to the amount as follows, viz. : -

The Assessors' valuation of estates in the town, May 1, 1860, was as follows : - Real estate, $705,605 ; personal estate, $337,- 329. Number of polls, 391. Tax assessed, $6499.42 - includ- ing State tax, $193.25; County tax, $722.65.
The balance of taxes uncollected, in the hands of the Collectors, is as follows, viz. : -
