REPORT OF THE AUDITING COMMITTEE.
To the Citizens of the Town of Swampscott :-
The Auditing Committee have attended to their duty, and herewith present their Seventeenth Annual Report of appropria- tions, receipts and expenditures, with a Schedule of property belonging to the town.
The total amount of bills paid, during the year, is $17,337 78
The Assessors' valuation of the town, May 1, 1868, was as follows :-
Real estate, $1,141,020.00; personal estate, $347,173.00 ; total, $1,488,193.00. Number of polls, 441. Total tax assessed, $18,247.29; including State tax of $2,840.00 and County tax of $1,714.40. Rate per cent. of total tax, 11.50 on $1,000.
