Record of Town Meetings
MEETING OF JANUARY 5, 1931
Meeting called to order at 7.32 o'clock P.M., by Moderator Eaton, who read the call for the meeting. Reading of Articles waived, Constable's Return read.
ARTICLE 1
Article 1. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of $13,500 for the purposes of surface and ground drainage and for the protec- tion of the public health .- Board of Selectmen.
On motion by Finance Committee:
Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $13,500 for the purposes called for in Article 1.
ARTICLE 2
Art. 2. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate $2,000 to be used by the Moth Department in cutting brush on public reservations in the Town and along its highways .- Board of Selectmen.
On motion by the Finance Committee:
Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $2000 for the purposes called for in Article 2.
ARTICLE 3
Art. 3. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to petition the General Court to authorize the Town to issue necessary bonds to provide funds for the construction and furnishing of an intermediate school or Junior High School .- M. E. S. Clemons.
On motion by M. E. S. Clemons:
Voted: That the Selectmen be instructed to petition the General Court to authorize the Town to issue necessary bonds to provide funds for the construction and furnishing of an Intermediate School or Junior High School.
ARTICLE 4
Art. 4. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to petition the General Court for authority for the Town to make a lease of the so-called Hartshorne House and a tract of land with the same, all now a part of the park system of said Town, to a corporation or to an associa- tion formed by citizens of the Town for the preservation and public use thereof with the right to charge for its use .- Park Commissioners.
On motion by Ned C. Loud:
Voted: That the Selectmen be instructed to petition the General Court for authority for the Town to make a lease of the so-called Hartshorne House and a tract of land with the same, all now a part of the park system

Bill before the Legislature allowing borrowing outside the debt limit, not having been passed, no action under Articles was taken.
A motion by Mr. Marshall that all action be postponed to annual March meeting was lost.

Voted: That this meeting stand adjourned to Monday evening, Febru- ary 16, at 7.30 o'clock P. M.

No action was taken at this meeting as House Bill No. 1242, not having been signed by Governor, any vote would be illegal.

Meeting called to order at 7.32 o'clock P. M., by Town Clerk Hartshorne, who, in the absence of the Moderator, read the call for the meeting and the Constable's Return thereon. Reading of Articles waived. Meeting then pro- ceeded to the election of a Moderator pro tempore.
On call by the Clerk for nominations, the name of Maynard E. S. Clemons was presented to the meeting. No other nominations being made, the meeting, by unanimous vote, elected Maynard E. S. Clemons, Moderator pro tempore, and he was duly qualified by the Town Clerk.

Article 1. To act upon the reports of town officers as published.

Art. 2. To choose all town officers not required to be chosen by ballot.
Voted: That a committee of five be appointed by the Moderator to bring in nominations for all town officers not required to be chosen by ballot.

ARTICLE 3
Art. 3. To see if the Town will authorize the Treasurer, with the ap- proval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year, beginning January 1, 1931, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, any debt or debts in- curred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of said financial year.
On motion by A. H. Boardman:
Voted: That the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is, authorized to borrow money on and after January 1, 1931, in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1931, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1931. Unanimous vote.
ARTICLE 4
Art. 4. To determine how much money the Town will raise and appro- priate for General Government, Protection of Persons and Property, Health and Sanitation, Highways, Charities and Soldiers' Benefits, Education, Recreation and Unclassified Public Service Enterprises, Interest and Matur- ing Debt.
