For the year ending Feb. 17, 1892.

BRISTOL, SS. TO JOSHUA R. DEL- ANO, one of the Constables of the Town of Fairhaven, GREETING : In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the town of Fairhaven, qualified to vote in town affairs, to meet at Phoenix Hall, in said town, on Monday, the seventh day of March next, 1892, at 8.30 o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to bring in their votes for all necessary town officers, to be voted for by ballot, and the polls will be open at 8.30 o'clock, a. m., and may be closed at 1 o'clock p. m., but the polls shall be kept open at least four hours. And also to act on the fol- lowing articles, viz :


ARTICLE 1ST. To choose a moderator to preside over said meeting.


ARTICLE 2D. To choose all necessary Town Officers for the year ensuing.


ARTICLE 3D, To determine the com- peusation to be allowed their Treasurer and Collector of Taxes for the ensuing year; also the rate of abatement, on Taxes for prompt payment, and at what tin , the collection of said taxes shall be con.pleted and whether on all taxes not paid by the time specified, interest shall be charged until payment be made.


ARTICLE 4TH. To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray the Town charges for the year ensuing and make appropriations for the same, viz. : For the support of the Poor, Repairs of Highways, Support of Public Schools, Liquidating the Town Debt, Salaries of Town Officers, and for all other inciden- tal expenses.


ARTICLE 5TII. To see if the Town will authorize its Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to hire money in anticipation of the taxes of the cur- rent year, and to issue notes therefor, and the debts incurred under the author- ity of this vote to be made payable from said taxes, or to renew any outstanding notes of the town.


ARTICLE 6TH. To see if the Town will accept the list of Jurors as prepared by the Selectmen to serve for the ensu- ing year.


ARTICLE 7TH. To determine the com- pensation to be paid the enginemen for the year ensuing.


ARTICLE 8TH. To see if the Town will instruct the Selectmen to appoint Meas- urers of Wood and Bark.


ARTICLE 9TH. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a sum of money to be applied to the improvement of the Soldier's Lot at Riverside Cemetery, aid for Memorial service, agreeable to the petition of James F. Tripp and oth- ers.


ARTICLE 10 will vote to ir grant any lice maintaining Weirs, Fykes, . vue tide waters of the Town of Luunaven agree- able to the petition of H. B, Taber and others.


ARTICLE 11TH. To see if the Town will vote to instruct its Selectmen to grant permission to maintain Fish Weirs or Pounds within its tide waters, agree- able to the petition of Ebenezer Mott and others.


ARTICLE 12TH. To see if the Town will vote to repair the sidewalk on the West side of William street between Centre and Union - streets agreeable to the petition of Roland Fish and others.


ARTICLE 13TH. To see if the town will vote to concrete the sidewalk on the East Side of Walnut street between Centre and Union streets agreeable to the petition of L. M. Snow and others.


ARTICLE 14TH. To see if the town will vote to appropriate one hundred and fifty dollars toward the payment for the new piano at the High School, agreeable to the petition of John I. Bryant and others.


ARTICLE 15TH. To see if the town will vote to instruct and authorize its Selectmen to sell or convey the lot of land on the west side of Walnut street known as the Engine house lot, agree- able to the petition of John I. Bryant and others.


ARTICLE 16TH. To see if the Town will vote to accept the layout, as made by the selectmen, of a town way or street leading westerly from North Main street, near the residence of M. O. Hard- ing, to the land of Mary C. Sanford, agreeable to the petition of Mary O. Sanford and others.


ARTICLE 17TH. To see if the Town will' authorize and instruct the Selectmen to deed to Abbie I'. Rogers, for a nominal price, in consideration of the amount paid by her for the town for the purchase of the same from the heirs of Joshua Grinnell, deceased, the lot of land now owned by the town, situated on the east siue of William street, and bounded on the west by William street; on the nortli by land of the heirs of Benjamin Ellis, and on the east and south by land of Abbie P. Rogers : being the same prem- ises described in a deed from William Rotch, Jr., and others to Joshua Grin- nell, dated October 6th, 1830, and record- ed in Bristol County, (N. D.) Registry of Deeds, Book 133, pages 16 and 17.


ARTICLE 18TH. To see if the Town will vote to place and maintain a light on the corner of Union and Walnut streets, agreeable to the petition of N. C. Miller and others.


ARTICLE 19TH. To see if the Town will vote to place five (5) electric lights on Washington street, from Rotch street to Matterson Square, agreeable to the petition of Temple S. Corson and others.

ARTICLE 20TH. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a sum of money for the repair of the Long Road, so called, leading from the residence of George H. Taber to the farm of John W. Bradford, agreeable to the petition of John W. Bradford and others.


ARTICLE 21ST. To act on any other business that may legally come before said meeting.


The Town Clerk, Treasurer, Collector of Taxes, Selectmen, Overseers of Poor, Assessors, one member of School Com- mittee for three years, Board of Health. Fence Viewers, Constables and Auditors, and an answer to the question : "Shall license be granted for the sale of Intox- icating liquors in this town?" "Yes" or "No," all to be voted for on one ballot.


And you are directed to serve this Warrant in the mode adopted by the Town of Fairhaven, seven days at least before the said Seventh day of March, 1892.

The Selectmen desire to acknowledge the generous assistance rendered by Mr. Henry H. Rogers in the con- struction of this street and the adjustment of the abutters' claims for damages sustained by its layout and construction, and also their appreciation of his liberality, by which it has been possible to construct the road-bed of stone and finish the same with a substantial covering of macadam without exceeding the appropriation therefor.
