ANNUAL REPORT.
TOWN CLERK'S REPORT.
It is important, on many considerations, that there should be a full registration of Births and Deaths, and the attention of those interested is therefore called to the following, from the Statutes of the Commonwealth.
" Parents shall give notice to the clerk of their city or town of the births and deaths of their children; every householder shall give like notice of every birth and death happening in his house."-Revised Statutes, Chap. 21, Sec. 2.
These provisions of the statutes, with their accompanying penalties for neglect. are not generally enforced, but they should be none the less obligatory ; their publication here will serve to show where the responsibility belongs in those rare cases in which births are omitted from the registration report.
BIRTHS REGISTERED IN DIGHTON IN 1879.
