The following appropriations are recommended and presented for consideration :

For repair of highways. $1,100 00

repair of bridges 100 00

support of Poor 1,000 00

support of schools 1,600 00

State tax. 920 00

County tax.

770 37

$5,490 37

For the repair of highways an appropriation of two hundred dollars, in addition to that of last year, is recommended as nec- essary to keep our roads in as good condition as formerly, while the appropriation for bridges may be safely cut down from two hundred to one hundred dollars. All our large bridges are be- lieved to be in good repair.

An appropriation of one thousand dollars for the support of the Poor is believed to be sufficient, while no appropriation is needed to pay incidental expenses, as our income from miscella- neous sources has done it heretofore.

No sum being recommended by the Committee for the sup- port of schools we use the figures of last year.

We insert the State and County taxes (which will probably be about the same as last year) in our schedule of appropria- tions, to show about what sum will be required to be assessed the present year.

·By reference to our liabilities and assets it appears that our Town is in the same prosperous condition as heretofore, having

17

a surplus of cash, or its equivalent, after paying outstanding de- mands of $4,500.00 in the Treasury, which is about the same as last year at settlement, and is thought sufficient to meet all payments the present year without borrowing.

Respectfully submitted,

ANDREW GRIFFITH, ALVIN PERKINS, H. A. LUCAS,

Selectmen and

Overseers of Poor.
