APPROPRIATIONS.

The following appropriations will be required the coming

year :

Schools.

$1,200 00

Repair of highways

1,200 00

1,600 00

Snow

600 00

Incidental

700 00

$5,450 00

We shall probably receive from corporation and National Bank tax . 1,000 00

$4,450 00

POOR. .

The expense of the poor has been $1,769.90, or $316.30 less than the appropriation, leaving a deficiency of but $65.56 in place of $331.86 at the close of last year.

The cost of board per week at the Almshouse has been about the same as last year.

Harriet and Willie G. Wrightington have been provided for without cost to the Town. Benjamin E. Wrightington still re- mains at the Almshouse.

Manoah Hurd, who was at the Hospital, was taken to the Almshouse, but we hope will be able before long to provide for himself.

16

Myron Benson's family will probably be more expense the coming year than the past, owing to the failing health of her father.

The children of Maria Bent of Falmouth, who we expected last year would be considerable expense to the Town, have been provided for among their friends without any increased cost among our poor.

$1,500 would meet our expenses another year; but as new cases are apt to occur, we think it would be well to appropriate $1,600.

BRIDGES.

The appropriation for the repair of bridges is nearly expend- ed, and will require an appropriation probably of $50.

·

REPAIR OF SCHOOL-HOUSES AND INCIDENTALS.

This appropriation has been largely overdrawn, and will probably require an appropriation of at least $100.

STATE AID.

The receipts from the State have more than covered the pay- ments the past year, and will be sufficient to meet all demands another year.

SNOW.

The cost of clearing the highways of snow has been large the past year, and must be considered in the appropriation for the coming year.

17
