REPORT OF THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

We respectfully submit the following statistics and report of our school work during the past year.

The duty which devolves upon your committee at each annual meeting is a responsible, and in some respects a difficult task ; and one to be performed with weighty and paramount considera- tions. The welfare of the schools in their intellectual and moral sense, and the welfare of the town in its industrial and commer- cial prosperity, is so united and mutually dependent, that a prac- tical solution of one involves a thorough consideration of the other.
