Overseers' Report.

Report of the Overseers of the Poor for the year ending March 1st, 1874.

The undersigned, in assuming the duties of Overseers of the Poor of the Town for the year now closing, respectfully submit that they have endeavoured to discharge that trust with economical fidelity to the interest of the Town, and kindness to the unfortunate poor who have been obliged to ask relief from want, at our hands.

The Board suffered embarrassment from the outset, from their want of a better acquaintance with the Pauper Laws of the State, com- pelling them to take counsel, whereby they might more satisfactorily settle some cases themselves, and we trust, for the interest of the Town.

The whole number of Paupers entitled to full support at the com- mencement of the year was 11. During the past year there has been an addition of 2. Total, 13. During the past year, 3 have died, leaving the whole number entitled to full support, 10.

In addition to the above, there is a family, consisting of six per- sons, now living in the City of Somerville, who are entitled to a military settlement, and are at the present time receiving partial support.

Whole number who are entitled to full and partial support at the close of the year is 16.
