During the year of 1933 there were only three towns not represented by inmates : Berlin, Hubbardston and New Braintree.

It has been a year of all round improvements, all of which were paid for during the year out of the receipts.

The new electric refrigerator, new heating boiler, coal storage pit, new water supply pipes, excavating under the additions built the year before, concrete floor, smoking room, and laundry in the basement, and nearly all of this work was done by the warden and help of the inmates, the Association paying for the material and some skilled labor.

Our warden deserves much credit for planning and carrying out this work.

Respectfully submitted, PERCY E. COLLINS, President LOUIS M. HANFF, Sec'y and Treas. -

Report of LIBRARIAN

To the Trustees of Forbes Memorial Library :

We have made many improvements in the library during the past year. Shelves have been built in the reading room to hold the juvenile and reference books. This gives us much more room in the stack room, which was needed badly. Old and worn out books have been discarded. More than 300 books have been cleaned and mended, the catalog has been revised, and a more up to date charging system installed. This has all been done under the super- vision of the State Board of Education. So at the close of the year the library is in a much better condition than it has been for many years.

On several afternoons groups of women and girls met at the library to help with the extra work of pasting, writing cards and shellacing the books. We take this opportunity to publicly thank all those who helped us in this way.

We have received gifts of books from Petersham Library, State of Massachusetts, Edward S. Crawford of Framingham, Mrs. Lucy P. Knight of Oxford and Capt. H. O. Daniels of Coast Guard Station at East Orleans, Mass.

We have received $4.57 for fines and the sale of old books and magazines. We have sold one copy of "Soldiers of Oakham" and one of "Forbes Memorial Library."
