REMARKS.
The total number of births entered upon record the past year is forty-eight. being three in excess of the past year. Twenty-nine of the number are males, against nineteen females. It will be seen on reference to the table of births that five entries are made where the Christian name of the child is not given. Although it very nearly approaches a perfect record in that respect, yet the Clerk would urge parents to be very particular in having their children named before the close of each year, in order to make the town's record complete and to avoid the trouble that might arise in the future by the omission.
Fifty-three deaths are recorded. The death rate has been nine less than that of last year .. The leading "cause of death" appears to be heart disease. The age of the oldest male person given is ninety-four and the age of the oldest female is eighty-five.
Thirty-two marriages have been returned for record the past year by the different parties having power and authority to perform the marriage rites. The number married by each is as follows: Rev. Mr. Snow, 10; Rev. Mr. Cook, 4; J. H. Paine, Esq., 4; Rev. Mr. Andrews, 3; A. L .. Weekes, Esq., 3; Rev. Mr. Haynes, 2; Rev. Mr. Beal, 2; Rev. Messrs Patterson, Morris, Westenburg and Whitaker, 1 each.
REPORT OF FIRES.

Kelley at West Harwich was burned on the morning of Jan. 1st, 1894, valued at $3500, amount of insurance, $2400; cause of fire, accidental overturning of lamp.
