$17,235 66
" The Treasury is subject to a draft of $123 75, being the wages of the teacher of the North School, for the winter term. Also sundry small bills not presented, amounting with the above to about $200. 5 gallons rum, 1 do whiskey, 1 do cherry rum, 5 demijohns, and 4 kegs belonging to the late Liquor Agency, remain unsold in possession of the town; and $2 for old lumber taken from the Fac- tory bridge.
The above report is believed to be a fair representation of the financial affairs of the town.
It will be seen that the town debt has slightly increased since last year; which suggests the propriety of larger appropriations or greater economy the coming year. It is difficult to see where much more retrenchment or economy, in the management of affairs, can be made, except in the matter of snow. This is one of our heaviest burdens; and it is to be hoped some cheaper and better way may be devised to render the roads passable in winter.
All of which is respectfully submitted.
JOHN TREFRY, Selectmen NATHANIEL B. BUTLER, } of CHARLES PATCH, Hamilton.
HAMILTON, Marchi 2d, 1869.
