ANNUAL REPORT OF THE
The foregoing accounts of the selectmen have been this day examined, and the orders compare with the vouchers, and I find the amount of claims against the town which have been settled by orders on the treasurer to be $4,755.45, all of which are satisfactorily vouched for.
The accounts of the treasurer, Daniel E. Safford, have also been examined and found to be correct, and find the balance remaining in the Treasury to be $1,493.83.
JOHN TREFRY, Auditor.
HAMILTON, February 25, 1873.
Our Report this year is in some respects incomplete.
In order to comply with the spirit of the By-laws, and also to gratify the wishes of the people as far as possible, it was found necessary to close up the accounts at this date.
On account of two schools not having closed their session, and the recent snow storms, it was found impossible to get in all the bills.
So far as a tolerable estimate can be made the amount of claims against the Town remaining unpaid will not be far from $800.00 .-
The Report shows a reduction of the town debt of $492.19 ; but when these outstanding claims are paid it will readily be seen that we actually owe some $300.00 more than last year. We see no way by which our regular expenses can be materially lessened ; the roads need further repairs generally, and the town will be subjected to still further expense the coming year for widening and improving certain roads by order of the Commissioners.

TOWN OF HAMILTON.
All these facts are respectfully submitted for the considera- tion and action of the town at the coming Annual Meeting.
NATHANIEL B. BUTLER, Selectmen GEORGE BROWN, of JAMES F. GWINN, Hamilton.
