Warrant for Annual Town Meeting.


ESSEX, SS.


To either of the Constables of the town of Hamilton in said


County,


GREETING .


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the town of Hamilton, qualified to vote in elections, and in town af- fairs, to meet at the Vestry in said town, on Tuesday, the thirteenth day of March, 1883, at ten o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to act on the following articles, viz :


Ist. To choose a Moderator to preside in said meeting.


2d. To choose all necessary town officers for the year en- suing.


3d. To hear the annual report of the Selectmen and act thereon.


4th. Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town.


5th. To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray the town charges for the year ensuing and make appropriation for the same.


6th. To determine the manner of repairing the highways, townways and bridges the ensuing year and make appropria- tion for the same.


7th. To see if the town will authorize their Collector to use all means of collecting the taxes which a town Treasurer when appointed Collector may use, agreeably to Chapter 18, Section 73 of the General Statutes.


8th. To see if the town will authorize their Treasurer to hire money under the direction of the Selectmen in anticipa- tion of taxes.


9th. To see if the town will authorize the Treasurer to renew notes already due, or to hire money to replace or pay the same.

Ioth. To see if the town will accept the list of Jurors as proposed by the Selectmen.


IIth. To see at what time tax bills shall be issued and taxes due, and what rate of interest shall be collected on taxes not paid when due, and also what discount shall be allowed on all taxes paid within a specified time.


12th. To see if the town will appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of a proper observance of Decoration Day, by the soldiers of the late rebellion.


13. To act on any other matter that may legally come before said meeting.


And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting attested copies thereof, one at the meeting house and one at some other public place in said town, seven days, at least, before the time and place of said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk, at the time and place of meeting as aforesaid.


Given under our hands this twenty-eight day of February, in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.
