Selectmen


Warrant for Annual Town Meeting.


Essex, ss.


To either of the Constables of the Town of Hamilton in said County, GREETING :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to notify and warn the Inhabitants of the Town of Hamilton, qualified to vote in Elections, and in Town affairs, to meet at the Vestry in said Town, on TUESDAY, the tenth day of March, 1885, at ten o'clock in the forenocn, then and there to act on the following ar- ticles, viz :


ART. I. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meet- ing.


ART. 2. To choose all necessary Town Officers for the year ensuing.


ART. 3. To hear the Annual Report of the Selectmen and act thereon.


ART. 4. Shall Licenses be granted for the sale of Intoxi- cating Liquors in this Town the ensuing year.


ART. 5. To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to dfray the Town Charges for the year ensuing, and appro- priations for the same


ART. 6. To determine the manner of reparing the High- ways, town ways, and bridges the year ensuing, and make appropriations for the same.


ART. 7. To see if the Town will authorize their Collec. tor to use all means of collecting the taxes which a Town Treasurer when appointed a Collector may use, agreeably to Chap. 18, Sect. 73 of the General Statutes.


ART 8. To see if the Town will authorize their Treasurre. to hire money under the direction of the Selectmen in antici- pation of Taxes


ART. 9. To see if the Town will authorize the Treasurer to renew Notes already due or to hire money to replace or pay the samc.


ART. IO To see if the Town will accept the List of Ju- rors as proposed by the Selectmen


ART. II' To see at what time Tax Bills shall be issued and Taxes due, and what rate of interest shall be collected

on taxes not paid when due, and also what discount shall be allowed on all taxes paid within a specified time.


ART. 12. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of a proper observance of Decoration Day, by the Soldiers of the late Rebellion.


ART. 13. To see what action the Town will take in re gard to the suit of Joseph Horton against the Town.


ART. 14. To see if the Town will build a set of Hay scales in the west part of the town and appropriate money for the same.


ART. 15. To see what action the Town will take in re- gard to enlarging of the Cemetery, the year ensuing.


ART. 16. To see what action the Town will take in re- gard to settlement of Miss Watts' demand on account of ac- cident.


ART. 17. To act on any other matter that may legally come before said meeting.


And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting at- tested copies thereof. one at the meeting-house, and one at some other public place in said town, seven days at least be- fore the time for the holding said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk, at the time and place of said meeting.
