WARRANT FOR ANNUAL TOWN MEETING.


ESSEX, SS.


To either of the Constables of the Town of Hamilton


GREETING :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Hamilton, qualified to vote in elections and in town affairs, to meet in the vestry in said town, on Tuesday the twelfth day of March, 1895, at 9.30 o'clock (A. M.) in the forenoon, then and there to act on the following articles, viz. :


ARTICLE 1. To choose a moderator to preside in said meet- ing.


ARTICLE 2. To choose all necessary town officers for the year ensuing.


ARTICLE 3. To hear the report of the Selectmen and act thereon.


ARTICLE 4. Shall licenses be granted in the town of Hamilton for the sale of intoxicating liquors the year ensu- ing.


ARTICLE 5. To see if the town will appropriate a sum of money not to exceed fifty ($50) dollars for the proper observ- ance of Decoration Day by the soldiers of the late rebellion.


ARTICLE 6. To see what action the town will take in re- gard to the decree of the County Commissioners ordering the County road from the road leading to house of Wm. H. Dodge to the road leading to house of Wm. A. Smith to be widened and relocated.

ARTICLE 7. To see if the town will authorize their Treas- urer to hire money under the direction of the Selectmen in anticipation of taxes.


ARTICLE 8. To see what action the town will take for building a town hall during the ensuing year ; and if the town should vote to build the same to make provisions for raising money for that purpose, as petitioned for by S. E. Thayer and others.


ARTICLE 9. To see what action the town will take in re- gard to the petition of Chas. O. Putnam and others for the building of a sidewalk between the store of A. B. Richardson and the property of David Webster situated on Asbury street.


ARTICLE 10. To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray town charges the year ensuing.


ARTICLE 11. To appropriate money for the repairs of highways, townways and bridges, and determine the manner of expending the same.


ARTICLE 12. To see if the town will authorize their col- lector to use all means of collecting the taxes which a town Treasurer, when appointed a collector, may use agreeably to Chap. 18, Sec. 73, of the Public Statutes.


ARTICLE 13. To see at what time tax bills shall be issued and taxes become due, and what rate of interest shall be charged on taxes not paid when due, and what discount shall be allowed on all taxes paid within a specified time.


ARTICLE 14. To see if the town will accept the list of jurors as proposed by the Selectmen and posted.


ARTICLE 15. To see what action the town will take in re- gard to the state highway commission and instruct the Select- men in regard to the same. -

ARTICLE 16. To see what action the town will take in re- gard to paying tuition for children attending school out of town.


ARTICLE 17. To see what action the town will take in re- gard to a better fire protection and make appropriation for the same as petitioned for by George H. Gibney and others.


ARTICLE 18. To act on any other matter that may legally come before said meeting.


And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting at- tested copies thereof, one at the meeting house, and one at some other public place in said town seven days at least be- fore the time for holding said meeting.


Hereof fail not and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk, at the time and place of holding said meeting.

REPORT.


To the Inhabitants of the Town of Hamilton :


The trustees of the public library present their fourth annual report as follows :


During the year 2410 books were issued, of which 2144 were fiction, 144 history and travels, 34 biography, and 88 all other classes.


The library was closed on account of sickness in the family of Mr. John L. Woodbury (in whose house the library is situated) from the 26th day of September to the 5th day of December.


New cards have been issued to 52 persons ; cards surren- dered from death and removal from town holders, 28; num- ber of persons holding cards at the present time, 368, an increase of 24 over last year.
