Warrant for Annual Town Meeting.


Essex, ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of GREETING : Hamilton.


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Hamilton qualified to vote in elections and in Town af- fairs to meet in the Vestry in said Town on Tuesday the ninth day of March, 1897, at 10 o'clock A. M. in the forenoon. then and there to act on the following articles, viz :--


Art. 1. To choose a moderator to preside in said meeting.


Art. 2. To choose all necessary Town officers for the year ensuing.


Art. 3. To hear the report of the Selectmen and act thereon.


Art. 4. Shall licenses be granted in the Town of Hamil- ton for the sale of intoxicating liquors for the year ensuing.


Art. 5. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money not to exceed Fifty Dollars ($50.) for the purpose of observing Decoration Day by the soldiers of the late Re- bellion.


Art. 6. To see what action the Town will take in pro- viding a building suitable for transacting all Town business. Also in connection a room suitable for a high grade Gram- mar School and to appropriate money for the same. Said building to be located between the Congregational church

Art. 7. To see what action the Town will take in regard to lighting the main street between Wenham line and Ips- wich line and appropriate money for same, as petitioned for by Francis Dane and others.


Art. 8. To see what action the Town will take in regard to repairing the sidewalks between Wenham and Ipswich line and appropriate money for the same. as petitioned for by Francis Dane and others.


Art. 9. To see what action the Town will take in regard to securing better school accommodation and building a new School House in the South District. as petitioned for by Walter E. Tuck and others. and appropriate money for the same.


Art. 10. To see what action the Town will take in re- gard to building and grading a sidewalk on Railroad ave. from Main street to the School House and from Railroad ave. to Asbury street on Willow street. and appropriate money for the same as petitioned for by Daniel C. Smith, and others.


Art. 11. To see what action the Town will take in re- gard to finishing and furnishing the Hook and Ladder House, and appropriate money for the same. as petitioned for by S. E. McLauflin and others.


Art. 12. To see what action the Town will take in re- gard to building a sidewalk on Walnut street and appropri- ate money for the same, as petitioned for by Lewis H. Brad- streete and others.


Art. 13. To see if the Town will authorize their Treas- urer to hire money under the direction of the Selectmen in anticipation of taxes.


Art. 14. To raise such sums of money as may be neces- sary to defray Town charges for the year ensuing.

TOWN MEETING WARRANT.


Art. 15. To appropriate money for the repairs of high- ways, townways and bridges, and determine the manner of expending the same.


Art. 16. To see if the Town will authorize their Collec- tor to use all means of collecting the taxes which a Town Treasurer when appointed a Collector may use agreeable to Chapter 18, Sec. 73 of the Public Statutes.


Art. 17. To determine at what time Tax bills shall be issued and taxes become due.


Art. 18. To see if the Town will accept the list of Jurors as proposed and posted by the Selectmen.


Art. 19. To act on any other matter that may come legally before said meeting.


And you are directed to serve this warrant posting at- tested copies thereof, one at the meeting house, and one at some other public place in said town seven days at least be- fore the time of said meeting.


Hereof fail not and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, at the time and place of holding said meeting.
