To either of the Constables of the Town of Reading, Greeting :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Reading, qualified to vote in elections, to meet in Odd Fellows Building, Woburn Street, in said Reading, as the polling place designated for the four pre- cincts in said Town, on Monday, the Fourth Day of March, A.D. 1946 at seven thirty o'clock in the forenoon to act on the following articles, viz :

To elect by ballot the following Town Officers : A Mod- erator for one year ; Town Clerk for one year ; one member of the Board of Selectmen for three years; one member of the Board of Public Wel- fare for three years; one member of the Board of Assessors for three years; Treasurer for one year; Collector of Taxes for three years; two members of the Board of Public Works for three years ; two Constables for one year ; one member of the Municipal Light Board for three years ; one member of the Board of Health for three years; two members of the School Committee for three years ; one member of the School Com- mittee for one year ; two members of the Trustees of the Public Library for three years; one member of the Trustees of the Public Library for one year; two members of the Planning Board for three years; two members of the Board of Cemetery Trustees for three years; also in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 7 of the Acts of 1943 in each of the four precincts the number of town meeting members as herein- after specified : Precinct I, fifteen members for three years : one member for one year ; Precinct II, fifteen members for three years ; Precinct III, fifteen members for three years ; one member for one year and two mem- bers for two years to fill vacancies; Precinct IV, fifteen members for three years; one member for two years to fill vacancy;
And to bring in their votes "Yes" or "No" on the following question : "Shall an act passed by the General Court in the year nineteen hundred and forty-five, entitled 'An Act Relative to Equal Pay for Men and Women Teachers,' be in force in this town?"
For these purposes the polls will be opened at each of the four precincts at 7:30 o'clock A.M. and will close at 8 o'clock P.M.

And to meet in Security Hall, Woburn Street, in said Reading, on Monday, the Eleventh Day of March, A.D. 1946, at seven forty-five o'clock in the evening at which time and place the following articles are to be acted upon and determined exclusively by Town Meeting Members in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 7 of the Acts of 1943.
Article 2. To hear and act on the reports of the Board of Select- men, Town Accountant, Treasurer, Collector of Taxes, Board of As- sessors, Board of Public Works; Town Clerk, Tree Warden, Board of Health, Board of Public Welfare, School Committee, Public Library Trustees, Municipal Light Board, Finance Committee, Contributory Re- tirement Board, Cemetery Trustees, Planning Board and any other Boards or Special Committees.
Article 3. To choose all other necessary town officers and special committees and determine what instructions shall be given town officers and special committees.
Article 4. To determine how much money the Town will raise and appropriate for General Government, Protection of Persons and Proper- ty, Health and Sanitation, Board of Public Works, including Highways, Sidewalks, Drainage, Common Parks and Supervised Play, Water Department and Sewer Department, Public Dumps, Charities and Aid, Veterans' Benefits, Public Schools, Public Library, Cemeteries, Memorial Day Observance, Municipal Light Department, Street Lighting, Matur- ing Debt, Interest, Insurance, Contributory Retirement System, Reserve Fund, Publication of a Street List for 1946, further development of the Town Forest and General Accounts.
Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year be- ginning January 1, 1947 and to issue a note or notes therefor payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws. Article 6. To see what sum the Town will raise and appropriate for the purpose of foreclosing in the Land Court pursuant to provisions of Section 65 of Chapter 60 of the General Laws the right of redemption to any and all real estate taken by the Town for non-payment of taxes, or what it will do in relation thereto. Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds, a sum of money for Chapter 90 Highway Maintenance and Construction to be used in connection with monies received from the State and County, or what it will do in relation thereto. Town Treasurer

Article 8. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of eight hundred dollars ($800.00) for the care of graves of any persons who have served in the Army, Navy or Marine Corps of the United States, in time of war or insurrection, and who have been honorably discharged from such service, as provided by Section 22, Chapter 115, General Laws, or what it will do in relation thereto. Article 9. To see what sum the Town will raise and appropriate to pay into the Contributory Retirement System for Municipal employees, excluding school teachers, for the benefit of municipal employees on military leave of absence during the year 1945 as provided for and under the authority of Chapter 419 of the Acts of 1943, or what it will do in relation thereto. Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to acquire by purchase, eminent domain, lease, gift or otherwise, certain parcels of land, ease- ments, rights of way or other interests therein, such parcels being situ- ated westerly of Main Street and shown as lots 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 15 on Town of Reading Assessors' Plat No. 1, or such portions thereof as may be determined by the Board of Selectmen, for providing a Muni- cipal Parking Area and to see what sum the Town will raise and appro- priate by borrowing or otherwise for such acquisition and construction or what it will do in relation thereto. Article 11. To see if the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to sell upon such terms and conditions as they may determine, two par- cels of land owned by the Town as follows: 15,940 sq. ft. of land at the southeasterly corner of Union and Middle Streets, and 15,863 sq. ft. of land at the southwesterly corner of Union and John Streets, or what it will do in relation thereto. Article 12. To see what sum the Town will vote to appropriate from the proceeds derived from the sale of scrap, waste paper, and other materials collected for salvage, for the expenses of such collections, and for any purpose relating to the welfare, benefit, or commemorating, or observing the service of persons who served in the Armed Forces of the United States during World War II, and his or her dependents, such sums to be expended as may be determined from time to time, and under the direction of a committee consisting of the Board of Selectmen, the Chairman and the Secretary of the Salvage Committee, or what it will do in relation thereto. Article 13. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to sell or otherwise dispose of, upon such terms and con- ditions as they may determine, the civilian defense equipment or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Selectmen
Article 14. To see what sum the Town will raise and appropriate for remodeling the building now used by the Welfare Department and

located on the Easterly side of John Street, for the purpose of garaging the trucks and equipment of the Moth Department or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Selectmen
Article 15. To see if the Town will vote to amend the By-laws of the Town by repealing Section 5A of Article X, being a By-law providing for a curfew. Board of Selectmen
Article 16. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Section 58A of Chapter 48 of the General Laws, being a law regulating the hours of duty of permanent members of the Fire Department of the Town or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Selectmen
Article 17. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Section IIIA of Chapter 41 of the General Laws being a law providing for vacations for members of the regular or permanent Police and Fire forces in the Town or what it will do in relation thereto.
