The school building being burned March 11, arrangements were made to have the school in the Town Hall the rest of the year. A new building was erected by Mr. F. A. Westhampton, Dec. 31, 1915
I have examined the accounts of the Selectmen and find them correct, having drawn orders for which proper vouchers are on file for ten thousand one hundred eleven dollars and forty seven cents ($10,111.47).
HENRY MILLER CLAPP
Report of the School Superintendent.
To the School Committee :-
I respectfully submit the report of the superintendent of schools for the past school year.
The list of the teachers in the schools at present is as fol- lows:
Center School
Northwest School
Vera A. Chapman Mary E. Clapp
Loudville School Marian R. Montague
Hill School
South School
Esther P. Clapp Gladys Moore
A special effort is being made to teach the pupils to write letters that are correct in form and expressed in good English. After leaving school, the majority of the pupils will use their knowledge of English in writing letters more than in any other way. The ability to write a good letter is a valuable accomplishment. Every pupil in the schools who is old enough writes a letter every week upon some subject assigned
29
by the teacher. These letters are sent to me at the end of the week, and they are corrected and returned to the teachers. The pupils seem to be interested, and some excellent. letters are sent.
LOUDVILLE
According to agreement the school at Loudville is under the control of the Westhampton school committee, and the annual expense of maintaining the school is divided among the towns of Northampton, Easthampton, and Westhampton in propor- tion to the number of days' attendance by the pupils of the three towns. The following report shows the number of days attendance of each town and each town's share of the expense of maintaining the school.
List of pupils in the Loudvile School for the school year 1914-1915 with the number of days each pupil attended school.
