REPORT OF Superintendent of Schools
To the School Committee :
I herewith submit my first annual report as superin- tendent of schools of Westhampton. Only one of last year's teachers returned this year, Miss Susie Sanderson of the Northwest School. Miss Cecile Carson of Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, a graduate of the New Brunswick Normal School, is teaching the Center School. Miss Esther Stiles and Miss Viola Woods are at the Hill and Loudville Schools respectively. Both live in Holyoke and are gradu- ates of the Westfield Normal School.
During the summer the Loudville School was thorough- ly renovated and redecorated. Some repairing was also done to the Hill School. New geographies have been placed in the fourth and fifth grades. Similar books should be bought for the upper grades, and some other text books need to be replaced.
The gross expenses of the school department were $5,504.71. Reimbursements from various sources were as follows :

REPORT OF School Nurse
To the Town of Westhampton :
During the past year nine days have been given to school nursing. Given such a limited amount of time it is impossible to do a piece of constructive health work or to prevent the spread of contagious discases.
The children have been weighed and measured three times during the year. Dr. Walter Tayolr, school physi- cian, has visited the four schools and completed his physical examinations.
The schools have been visited twenty-nine times. Home visits twenty-three. Health talks seventeen, fitted to · glasses two, tonsils and adenoids removed six.
The Modern Health Crusade, teaching the children health habits by doing them, is the modern way of having children build up health habits that will follow them through life. This work is being carried on in all the schools.
All the children have been successfully vaccinated against small-pox.
The only recommendation I shoud malke, would be to have the children immunized against diphtheria. Diphthe- ria is a preventable discase. Why not prevent it ?
I wish to thank the Superintendent of Schools, school committee, school physician, teachers and parents for their co-operation in the school health work.
Respectfully submitted. DOROTHEA STEWART,
School Nurse.
