Report of Superintendent of Schools
To the School Committee :
I herewith submit my second annual report as superin- tendent of schools of Westhampton. Only one new teacher was employed this fall, Mrs. Mary Cushing taking the place 'of Miss Susie Sanderson in the Northwest school.
The Loudville school was not opened in the fall owing ito the small number of pupils in attendance. These were transported to the Hill school, thereby saving several hun- dred dollars of public money and in no way impairing the efficiency of the work.
Last year the length of the school term was increased from thirty-six to thirty-eight weeks, thus coming into line with most towns of corresponding size. New arithmetics have been placed in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, new geographies in the sixth and seventh grades, and new histories in the sixth, seventh', and eighth grades .....
The following statistics were taken from the reports of the teachers .for the school year 1925-1926, which ended June 30, 1926.

Report of School Nurse
Westhampton, Jan. 1927. To the Superintendent of Schools :
Giving only one day a month to school nursing, the nurse is unable to help a great deal in the prevention of the spread of the infectious diseases, however, it is understood with the teachers that I will answer any emergency calls.
Dr. Walter Taylor, school physician, made his inspec- tion of the children and his recommendations have been given to the parents. The children were weighed and measured and an effort made to improve the nutrition of those found underweight.
Dr. Sherwood, Red Cross dentist, visited the town and about eighty per cent of the children needing dental atten- tion, were taken care of by this means or visited their own dentist.
Miss Ruth Foss, State Department of Health, visited the schools and showed a health education film which the children thoroughly enjoyed and never cease to talk about.
School nursing aims to aid the teachers in the develop- ment of sound bodies and sound minds through medical examination, mental hygiene examination and health educa- tion in the school room, and toward this goal, with the splendid cooperation of the School Committee, Superin- tendent of Schools, teachers, and parents, we shall continue our efforts.
Respectfully submitted,
DOROTHEA STEWART, R. N. .
