RALPH S. BRIDGMAN
Treasurer
I have examined the accounts of the Treasurer and find them correct, showing disbursements to the amount of seventy-seven thousand, four hundred thirty-five dol- lars and ten cents ($77,435.10), for which vouchers are on file, and a balance on hand of thirty-seven thousand, five hundred fifty dollars and ninety-one cents, ($37,- 550.91). Due from Ralph S. Bridgman, Tax Collector, 1951 personal property tax eight hundred fifty-two dol- lars and eighty-eight cents ($852.88). Real estate tax three thousand, four hundred forty-four dollars and sev- enty-one cents ($3,444.71), excises two hundred fifty- three dollars and sixty-one cents, and polls two dollars
11
($2.00). 1950 personal property taxes eighty-five dollars and ninety-six cents ($85.96), real estate taxes two hun- dred sixty-seven dollars and four cents ($267.04), excise twenty-five dollars and ninety-four cents ($25.94), 1949 real estate taxes ninety-six dollars and no cents ($96.00), and excise four dollars and thirteen cents ($4.13).
JEAN W. NORRIS Auditor
Auditor's Note :
No funds were voted at our 1951 Town Meeting to pay the note on our Town Hall debt. The Selectmen author- ized the Treasurer to pay the $1000 note due the North- ampton National Bank, and the note was paid. This was proper because the Town was obligated to pay the note. Action should be taken at our 1952 Town Meeting to provide for this overdraft.

Board of Trustees
REPORT OF THE School Committee
To the Citizens of Westhampton :
The School Committee held 12 regular and 2 special meetings during the year; they also attended the annual meeting of the Joint School Boards in Union #2.
All of the members and the Superintendent were pres- ent at all of these meetings except one; at this meeting one member was out of town.
Esther Clapp was authorized to teach music once a week instead of once in two weeks as has been the cus- tom.
At the beginning of the school year in September the heating janitor and cleaning janitor were consolidated into one, which has proved more practical.
The elementary bus contract for transportation of pu- pils in the South District was mutually terminated and new bids called, with the result that Walter R. Witherell, Sr. was low bidder and was awarded the contract for three years. Mr. Witherell was also low bidder for the high and vocational transportation of pupils to North- ampton and was awarded the contract for three years.
The School Committee voted to accept the 1951 annual reports of the following : Superintendent, Principal, Mu- sic Supervisor, Physical Education, School Nurse and the Well Child Clinic. They recommend that these re- ports be read by the citizens of Westhampton.
. At the end of 1951 the committee discontinued the stub book method of making orders for paying bills and instituted the warrant system. This system has been rec- ommended very strongly by the State Auditors.

REPORT OF THE Superintendent of Schools
To the School Committee and Citizens of the
Town of Westhampton :
I hereby present this, my seventh report of the Public Schools of Westhampton. This is the sixty-first in the se- ries.
The 1951-1952 (October 1, 1951) enrollment is as fol- lows :
Grades 1 and 2
15 pupils
Grades 3, 4, and 5
23 pupils
Grades 6, 7, and 8 19 pupils
TOTAL
57 pupils
Eighteen pupils are attending Northampton High School; 4 pupils are enrolled at Smith's School; and 1 pu- pil is attending Holyoke Trade School. Private and paro- chial school enrollment includes 1 pupil in attendance at Williston, and 9 in parochial schools. Our total enrollment in elementary and secondary schools is 90 pupils.
Reports from Northampton High School show that the Westhampton Center graduates are doing creditable work, and reports from trade schools show that all but one are doing satisfactory work.
