REPORT OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
To the People of Westhampton:
We are happy to submit a report on the activities of your Board of Selectmen.
Chapter 81-Highway Work
Again this year considerable work was done on the North- west Road. The hill in front of the Arthur Dodge farm was widened considerably, and we feel that with the repairing and widening of the bridge at the foot of the hill, the North- west Road will be greatly improved.
Bond Issue Funds
As you all know, it was voted at the 1957 Annual Town Meeting to use $7,000.00 of the Bond Issue money to replace the Bridge at Loud's Mill, but unfortunately the plans were not received in time from the State Department of Public Works in order to complete the job before Winter. This project will be undertaken as soon as weather and high water will permit.
New Road Work
The road site at Pine Island Lake dam confronts quite a problem. How to alleviate the dangerous curve, at the least expense to the Town, is one of our major problems. We hope to have an answer to this soon.
Town Hall
The Town Hall has been used extensively this year. The Selectmen wish that anyone using this hall would refrain from leaving the lights on, the doors open, and above all entering the hall without first obtaining the key from the Custodian, Stanley Bartlett.
We wish to thank Stanley Bartlett for the splendid job he is doing as the Custodian of the Town Hall. He has been very patient about putting out the lights and closing the doors after the Town Hall has been used by various organizations.
11
We wish to call to the attention of the townspeople the fact that the acts of vandalism done to the Town Hall cannot be tolerated any further and if these acts continue, drastic steps will have to be taken.
We are very grateful to all Town Officials for their co- operation during the past year.
