REPORT OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN

In this report of your Selectmen covering the year of 1960, may we with your indulgence dispose of our trials and tribulations.

At the Annual Town meeting held in March 1960, we asked and received $1,000.00 additional funds for Chapter 81 road work. It was the intention of this board to use this money to widen and repair South Road at its intersection with North and Stage Road. It was not done because there has not as yet been a record found which shows the recording of this road in its present state. The $1,000.00 has been re- turned to available funds in the Treasury, and if the search that is being made reveals no record of this road, then a sur- vey will have to be made.

For many years, an annual appropriation has been asked for and received to repair Route 66 under Chapter 90 Con- struction. We are happy to announce that 1961 will see the end of this necessity, for the present.

The Northwest Road has been approved by the State Dept. of Public Works as eligible for Chapter 90 funds. and we feel that this will relieve some of the hardships in main- taining this road, especially in the winter months.

The new front-end loader purchased this year has proven to have been sorely needed, and a valuable asset to the town.

Several compliments have been received on replacing of Damon Brook Bridge. This was accomplished with Chapter 718 allotment at a minimum cost to the town.

May we call to your attention, that anyone being bitten by a dog, must report immediately to the Board of Health, who in turn must report to the State Dept. of Public Health.

11

This is very important. Rabies are the result of a rabid dog bite and unless treated are fatal.

In closing may we take this opportunity to express the appreciation of the Town for the loyal service given by all employees, boards and committees who together help make Westhampton a town of which we are all proud to be a part.
