REPORT OF THE CENTER CEMETERY
This is my nineteenth annual report.
Cemetery work consisted of the usual springtime clean- up of leaves, branches and other debris. Some headstones were straightened up and wheel-ruts in the roads were filled and smoothed over.
The seemingly endless chore of mowing durinng the sum- mer was enlightened by the purchase of a small riding type of tractor with a rotary mower attachment. A trailer may be hitched to this tractor for hauling away leaves, brush and other litter or for moving sand, loam or stones.
Again in the Fall the raking up of leaves. cutting brush and pruning shrubbery completed the maintenance program.
Some repair work was performed on the equipment stor- age shed. The front sill timber was sagging from an invasion of Carpenter ants. The entire sill was removed and a new beam was cut and fitted into place.
There has been an increasing number of evergreen shrub plantings around monuments in the past few years. I hope people realize that it is only a matter of time that such plant- ings will overgrow and engulf their surroundings.
There were four burials in 1962.
Five new monuments or headstones were set in place this year.
Six new lots were taken by townspeople.
Respectfully submitted, STANLEY BARTLETT Caretaker
