T HIS publication'is issued under the authority of a vote passed by the NEW ENGLAND HISTORIC GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY, 6 November, 1901, as follows :


Voted : That the sum of $20,000, from the bequest of the late Robert Henry Eddy, be set aside as a special fund to be called the Eddy Town-Record Fund, for the sole purpose of publishing the Vital Records of the towns of Massachusetts, and that the Council be authorized and instructed to make such arrangements as may be necessary for such publication. T HE TOWN OF WEST STOCKBRIDGE,


Berkshire. County, was established March 9, 1774, from a part of Stockbridge, as the district of West Stockbridge.


August 23, 1775, the district was made a town by general act.


March 2, 1793, a gore of common land was annexed to West Stockbridge.


March 2, 1829, a part of Stockbridge was annexed to West Stockbridge.


February 6, 1830, the act of March 2, 1829, was perfected.


March 27, 1834, bounds between West Stockbridge and Richmond were established.


March 17, 1847, a part of West Stockbridge was annexed to Alford.
