GRIFFITH'S HEAD BEACHES.

Dr. J. A. STEADMAN, Dr. CHAS. T. CLARKE, Proprietors. A. J. WEST, Superintendent & Manager.

No. I BEACON STREET, Room 62A , BOSTON.

Mile Beach, 200 feet wide. Half-Mile Beach, 400 feet wide. Little River and Uplands. Todd's Point.

Griffith's Head. Kidd's Point.

Sheepscot Bluffs. Great Fresh Pond

T HE BEAUTIFUL Beaches and Uplands at Georgetown have lately been purchased from the Town of Georgetown by Dr. J. A. Steadman and Dr. Chas. T. Clarke. They are surveyed and laid out under the managinent of Mr. A. J. West.

Georgetown is situated at the right of the inouth of the Kennebec River. The Beaches are eight and one-half iniles front Bath, two miles from Five Islands, and four miles from Squirrel Islands. The property includes, besides the Beaches, "Todd's Point," "Griffith's Head," Kidd's Point," and the highlands along Sheepscot Bay.

Between the two headlands runs an inlet, making a safe harbor for boats and yachts and a landing place for passengers. The scenery at this point is grand and beautiful, con- tinually changing, and ever showing some new bit of beach, cliff, and wood. Leaving "Kidd's Point" and going north, we travel over a storm-beaten bluff, gradually ascending until you reach the northern boundery line, one mile from "Kidd's Point." From the face of this bluff, towards the interior, rise high hills with forest groves, springs, and brooks. Here are seen some of the finest views 011 the New England coast.

Extract from letter of Alexander Johnson, U. S. Surveyor:

"The beautiful sea beach extending south from "Griffith's Head" is the only beach from Popham all the way to Mt. Desert, - a clear, open sea view in front, showing every passing ship and steamer; with Seguin on the right, and Southport on the left, and the w de Sheepscot between. Od Orchard can offer nothing to compare with the splen- did views to be had from any point on the premises. The sea rolls ceaselessly over the beach. and the storms are grand beyond description. The awful power of the heavy seas, as they break on Griffitli's rugged "Head" and the mnile of white, surging foam ex- tending north as far as "Hammond's Harbor" and "Five Islands," can be appreciated only by those who view them."

The superiority of this over all other summer resorts lies in its great variety of attrac- tions, giving pleasure and health. It combines in one the principal features of the sum- mer resorts throughout the country.

To those who are looking for rest, health, pleasure, and a place to take their families during the summer season, it would be hard to find one better adapted for all purposes than "Georgetown Beaches." House lots can be bought very low, and plans will be drawn and cottages built at low prices. There is a large amount of money being expended in laying out and improving the property, and it certainly will be one of the most desirable and delightful resorts in New England.

The land is laid out in lots which are selling from one to ten cents per foot. Fare from Boston and return $2.75 for the round trip, during the season.

Plans, information, and terms can be obtained by addressing or calling on the Manager
