Monthly meeting of Executive com- mittee
Annual meeting third Tuesday in March
Object: "To co-operate with and aid the probation officers of the Court, and
to promote justice, good order and effi- eiency in the community."
Work Accomplished: (1), The League has supplied "Big Brothers" or advisers to 20 probationers since January 1, 1922, and has secured some 40 volunteers for such work; (2), The League has been instrumental in settling many neighbor- hood disputes so that they did not have to come before the court; (3), The League has done splendid work in keep- ing boys off the street by interesting them in home gardening and sports. The number of juvenile cases in the court this summer was 5 as against 25 last year.
Work Planned: (1). Continuation of Probation work: (2), Interesting boys and girls in healthful sports, home gar- dens. etc .; (3), Educational Campaign on law and order including sending members a brief digest of many laws now frequently broken through ignor- ance.
Membership: The League has been reorganized with three classes of mem- bers; (1), Constituent Societies. dues, $10.00: (2). Active Members. dues. $1.00; (3), Junior Members. dues. 25 cents.
Any organized society in town, civic or social, may become a constituent member and appoint a delegate to the council. Any person over 18 years of age may become an active member. The active members may elect 10 delegates to the council. The council elects the officers and executive committee.
The League wishes to obtain 5,000 members and the membership dues from these would supply all the funds needed. It is hoped that every member of a family will join, especially those under 18 years of age as it is through these junior members that very effective edu- cational work can be accomplished.
In order to pay the running expenses until this membership is attained, con- tributions in addition to dues are so- licted.
If you believe in law and order, join the Brookline Municipal League.
