The campaign committee and the various teams at work in the local field will bead every effort during the few remaining days to reach the $100,000 tark met for Brookline.
Although the campaign all over New England was scheduled to begin Monday, the caraming did not part is many cities and towns until Tuesday, owing to the holiday. The Brookline teams did not get started until Wednesday, and for thia rtmon Chairman Dape has decided to extend the campaign to next Wednesday. Plans for the campaign were out lined by Chairman Dane, at a public meeting held in the Town Hall on Monday evening. J. Randolph Coolidge, Je. delivered the principal address, in which he stoogly emphasized the absolute ored of money for the Red Cross. The need, be said, is now, and the need is great; the money asked for is Inthe enough when obe considered what it is to be spent for.
Mr. Coolidge said the government tu totally inexperienced and more willing than ahk to get the ponderous machinery of the Red Crom organization well under way. This condition is not due to indiffer- ence on the pa.t of the government, but to inabilly to meet the demand. The National organization is a heavy thing to get started. Much depends on the people of Brookline, wbo don't need to be sold what their duty is: their generosity and thoughtfulaces may be relied upon. A simple though highly effective system for the practical working out of the can. Vating operations, was devied by the committee, it boing patterned after the public bbrary system. Long tables

The Fisher Hill Associates have bert informed that the Boston and Albany Railroad has denied the petition of the Metropolitan Cool Company for a railroad siding on its property st Chestnut Hill Avenue. The coal company wishes to utihet a piece of property in the vicinity of the railroad bridge, to facilitate the handling of coal and, it is understood intends to erect a coal pocket there. Failing io its efforts to get the railroad siding, the coal company has appealed to the Public Service Commission, as che result of which the Commision will give # bearing on the proposition on July & Fisher Hill residents and those who recide just over the fine in Boston have registered a strong protest against proposed erection of a cuaf pocket, be- lieving that such 1 structure will prove detrimental to property. The Fisher Hill organization appointed # special com. mittee last week, to see what could be done to prevent the carrying out of die coal pocket plans. This committee, of which Edward D. VerPlsack is chairman, is working in conjunction with the Aber. deen Club. Both organizations will mad representatives to the hearing on July . to present their side of the Get to the Public Service Commission.
