1855. March 15 John C. WILDER, died at North Bridgewater in the faith of the Gospel. He was buried in Hanover on Sat- urday, March 17, in the burying ground near the centre chh. The funeral services were held in the meeting house of the 2nd Parish at the village:

would then take her. She was very calm and peaceful and expired without a struggle or a groan or moving a muscle. All was peace. Jesus was with her: She is now with him.

August * Miss Sybil HATCH.

1859. November 15 Lydia S. BARSTOW : died in the blessed peace of our Saviour. She was very happy in her sickness, near its close especially. May her death be sanctified to the church.

August 18 Samuel STETSON : died in the faith of Jesus Christ, sud- denly in an apoplectic fit : aged 89 yrs. 3 mos. 8 dys.

1860. July 14 Widow Celia JUDD aged 77 years. She was re- ceived to this church, August 5, 1827 by the Rev. Ethan Smith, Pastor. She walked with the church till within a few years : she has been allured away and become interested in spiritualism. Because of her feeble old age and broken state of mind the church bore with her with long suffering and charity. She ever said to her pastor and others that she did not give up her faith in the Bible, nor her hope in Christ nor her love to the Church. Her accounts are with God and sealed : it is our hope that her error and inconsistency may have been forgiven and that it may be well with her.

1863. March 7 Frances DWELLEY : aged 74.

March 9 Bethiah Cook, wife of Isaac Cook : aged 67.

1865. February 16. Hannah STETSON widow of Edward Stetson: aged 89 years 10 months. She died in holy faith in which she had lived many years. She attended chh. only a few weeks before her death.

October 12. Mr. Melzar HATCH died : In his death, his friends, the parish & town suffer deep affliction & a great loss. He was an early & earnest friend & laborer in the cause of temperance. Few men of the country have done more than he for the support of the institu- tion of the Gospel. It was through his encouragement and liberal investment that the present parsonage was built and the lot secured :

.he put in $300= or $400. When the late meeting house was burned and we stood by the smouldering ruins, he moved in the purpose to build a new one on that consecrated spot and in the first week he ob- tained the subscription of nearly $3000= promising $500= himself. He probably paid in about $600= besides personal labor for which he charged nothing, worth not less than $100= He gave the parish $600= toward the fund for the support of the Gospel ordinances. For a few years he has paid $100= towards the salary of the pastor besides lib- eral gifts to him. He had the oversight and care of the affairs and interests of the parish and was the treasurer and principal collector for many years. He was a constant attendant on public worship in all weather: though he was not a professor of religion he had great reverence for religion and religious ordinances. It grieved him to see them neglected habitually by men or to witness the desecration of the Holy Sabbath. He was a man of public spirit and his influ- ence and work may be seen in many things. He has been a strong friend and patriot during the great national conflict and ready and willing to aid -to provide * * things for the soldiers-for the suffering without distinction of color or nationality. He did much in aiding improvements in the cemetery. One of his last labors for the parish was to plant those trees now casting their shadows around the new church. His funeral was attended by a large gathering of people. It was a solemn occasion.

1866. February 2. Isaac Cook : after long decline: very peace- ful and easy death : had been deacon 37 years : Superintend- ent of Sabbath school 30 years and member of the chh. 39 years : aged 73 years.

May 9. Widow Ruth BATES. Died in peace and comfort of the Holy Ghost. She had been a member of the chh. 30 yrs. She had been confined to her room 16 yrs. and unable to walk a step. She was an example of patience, meekness and faith. She suffered exceedingly in her last illness but she died easily. She sleeps in Jesus.

July 15. Widow Elizabeth T. HOUSE: " died in peace and entered the promised rest. She had been in failing health for several months. Rev. Mr. Southworth of Hanson officiated at her funeral as her pas- tor was absent."

1867. January 2. Mr. Samuel BARSTOW died.

June II. Abigail ROGERS, wife of Reuben Rogers.
