The table of population given below is compiled from statistics gathered by the provincial, state, and federal authorities as indicated. The loss between 1765 and 1776 is accounted for by the setting off of Whately and Williamsburg in 1771. The growth during the last decade is due to the influx of Polish and Hungarian immigrants.
