To Find a Name

You must know how to spell it. It is not uncommon. for members of the same family to spell their names differently, preserving the pronunciation. A few instances as follows : Brown, Browne; Cain, Kain , Kane; Cavanaugh, Cavanough, Kavanough; Chase,, Chace; Cohen, 'Cohn, Kohn; Kelley, Kelly ; Kenney, Kenny, Kinney; Miller, Mueller, Miehler ; Paine,, Payne; Read, Reed, Reid; Rider, Ryder; Hines, Hynes ; and especially the French names.

Directories are arranged and printed in exact alphabetical order. If the examiner knows the way the name is spelled and follows out the order of the alphabet, he will save time and vexation of spirit.

Read the rules and regulations of the State Normal School. Be sure you know how to spell the name you want. It's here. Don't forget to read the new rules of the Board of Health .. The advertisers help make the book a success. Patronize them. Read over the streets and avenues and learn where you are at. James T. Larkin, Book and Job Printer, Directory bldg, 5 Main St.
