Warrant for Annual Town Meeting.


BRISTOL, SS.


To GEORGE F. IDE, OR EITHER OF THE CONSTABLES OF THE TOWN OF ATTLEBOROUGH, GREETING :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the legal voters in the Town of Attleborough, to meet in Agricultural Hall, in said Attleborough, on MONDAY, March 21st, 1881, at ten o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to act on the following articles, to wit :


1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.


2. To consider and act upon the reports of the Selectmen, Treasurer, and other Town Officers.


3. To determine the number that shall constitute the Board of Selectmen, Assessors, School Committee, Constables and Collectors for the ensuing year.


4. To bring in their votes for Town Clerk, Selectmen, Assessors, one Overseer of the Poor, and Treasurer, all on one ballot.


5. To bring in their votes for School Committee.


6. To bring in their votes for Collectors and Constables, on one ballot.


7. To choose all other Town Officers.


8. To see if the Town will accept the Jury list, as made by the Selectmen.


9. To see if the Town will instruct the Prudential Committees of the School Districts to contract with Teachers.

10. To determine the salaries and compensation of Town Officers.


11. To see if the Town will authorize thie Treasurer to borrow money in anticipation of receipts from the Collectors.


12. To see what disposition the Town will make of the Dog Fund reported in the hands of the Treasurer.


13. To see if the Town will raise money by assessment, or otherwise, to pay Military Aid, in anticipation of reimbursement by the State, as provided by the Statutes.


14. To see if the Town will instruct the Selectmen to contract with one Physician, or more, to attend tlie Town poor for the ensuing year.


15. To see if the Town will vote to abolish the School Districts.


16. To see whether the Town will, by its vote or otherwise, ask the Legislature to extend to women who are citizens the right to hold Town offices and to vote in Town affairs on the same ternis as male citizens.


17. To see if the Town will assent to the exclusion of William Walker and other petitioners and their estates from Attleborough Fire District No. 1, agreeably to a petition.


18. To see if the Town will vote to employ four special officers as Patrols and Police ; two for the East village and two for the North village, determine their compensation and do or act anything relative thereto.


19. To see if the Town will employ one or more Physicians to sign certificates of the cause of death, as provided in Chapter 174, of the Acts of 1878.


20. To see what Bridges, if any, the Town will build.


5-30, 21. To choose any Committee to hear the report of any Committee, and act thereon.


22. To see if the Town will assent to the exclusion of Isaac P. Brainard and other petitioners and their estates from North Attleboroughi Fire District No. 1, and also from the Union Improvement District, North Attleborough.


23. To see if the Town will adopt a policy in regard to setting curb- ing and paving gutters in the Town ways.


24. To see what action the Town will take in reference to establishi- ing the grade of the streets in the villages of North and East Attleborough.

25. To see if the Town will vote to construct a sewer beginning at the junction of Peck and Bank Streets, running southerly through said Bank Street and entering Park Street sewer; agreeably to a petition.


26. To see if the Town will vote to construct a sewer through the street in Dodgeville and make an appropriation therefor; agreeably to a petition.


27. To see if the Town will construct a culvert or drain on Pleasant street near the residence of Mrs. A. A. Starkey agreeably to a petition.


28. To see if the Town will make an appropriation for grading and draining Florence Street, agreeably to a petition.


29. To see if the Town will make an appropriation for grading County Street, agreably to a petition.


30. To see if the Town will instruct the Selectmen to cause to be placed upon the Streets in Town their respective names ; agreeably to a petition.


31. To see if the Town will accept the re-location of East Street, beginning at Orne Street and running northerly to Fisher Street, as laid out by the Selectmen, agrecably to a petition.


32. To see if the Town will accept the location of Horton Street, beginning at Gustin Street, running northerly to land of Nahum Perry, as laid out by the Selectmen, agreeably to a petition.


33. To see if the Town will accept the location of Dean Street, be- ginning at North Main Street, running Easterly to Perrin St., (so called), agreeably to a petition.


34. To see if the Town will accept of the re-location of a portion of the Old Post Road, near the residence of Samuel Newell and also a por- tion of the Allen road, (so called), intersecting therewith, as laid out by the Selectmen, agreeably to a petition.


35. To see what action the Town will take, if any relative to the drainage of Union Street, agreeably to a petition.


36. To see if the Town will petition the County Commissioners to lay out Peck Street across the Attleborough Branch Railroad, agreeably to a petition.


37. To see if the Town will vote to build a High School House in North Attleborough, or do anything relating thereto; agreeably to a peti- tion.

43. To see how much the Town will appropriate for Highways and Bridges.


44. To see how much the Town will appropriate for Current and Incidental Expenses.


45. To see what discount the Town will make for prompt payment of taxes, and what interest it will charge on all taxes remaining unpaid when due.


46. To see if the Town will authorize their Collectors to use all means of colleeting the taxes, which a Town Treasurer may use when appointed Collector.


47. To determine how much the Town will raise by taxation, to meet . the appropriations, defray the annual expenses, and pay the State and County taxes.


48. To vote "yes" or "no", by separate ballot, upon the question 'shall lieenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town,' the ensuing year.


And you are directed to serve this Warrant by posting up attested copies thereof in ten public places in said Town, at least seven days before the time of holding said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk at or before the time of said meeting.
