Writing upon the board for pupils to copy must be where it can be read by all the pupils without straining their eyes.
See to it that pupils do not strain the voice when it is changing. This is an important matter, but easily over- looked.
Pupils should not be allowed to sit in wet clothes. Not a little of the sickness of school children can be traced to this single cause.

ANNUAL REPORT.
Urge upon the pupils cleanliness of person. By so doing, many a child who otherwise might be careless in this respect may be taught neatness and good taste.
A certain form of sore eyes, producing excessive pur- ulent secretion, is contagious. The child so suffering should be excused from attending school, and put under medical treatment.
In questionable cases of skin disease, where communi- cability may be feared, ask for advice.
Certificates of vaccination should be accepted only when signed by a regular physician.
In the matter of contagious disease-viz., whooping cough, measles, scarlet fever, smallpox or diphtheria-if there is any doubt as to the safety of permitting the pres- ence of a child in school, consult the Superintendent. And in all cases of absence from the last three diseases, do not allow the return of a pupil without a certificate from a regular physician or the Board of Health stating unequivo- cally that two weeks have elapsed since recovery, removal or death of the last patient in the household of such pupil who had been afflicted with the contagious disease. This form is necessary in order to comply with the statute law.

Pro rata of tardiness is based on average attendance.
*Opened as a separate school in September, the enrollment appears in other schools.
¡The reason for the apparently wide difference between enrollment and average membership of some schools is due to the change of pupils from room to room in September.
