The following are the inscriptions on the stones and monuments in the ancient burying ground called the " West Cometery", or Billings Cemetery , in Sharon , Massachusetts, located in the westerly fart of the town, three miles southwest of the central village, and one third of a mile from the Foxborough line, on the northwesterly side of South Main street, at the junction of County street (formerly the old post road). The burying ground near also is near Paradise meadow and, the site of the house of Ebenezer Billings , whose grave stone in this cemetery bears the oldest date, 171}. The most recent date is 1889. The cemetery is neglected . It is on a rising
ground, and if properly cared for would make a fine appearance from the street. Main street in the principal thoroughfare, although at this portion there are but few dwelling houses , These two features (neglect and isolation) winte to desecration of which there are Evidences. Since I commenced taking the inscriptions, one prominent stone has been rudely broken .
