BEVERLY DIRECTORY, 1917
A SUGGESTION
In order to find a name in the General Directory which follows, you must know how to spell it. The publishers have this constantly in mind and many similarly pronounced but differently spelled names are given cross references from one method of spelling to another. But even this will not help you if you insist upon search- ing for "Patrick Mack" when his real name is "MacNamara." Of course he is sometimes called Mack, but you must be sure you are right before you give up the search. One of our lead- ing business men could not find Mr. Gouchie be- cause he didn't know it was spelled Gauthier. Study your directory in your spare moments. It will save you time when you are busy and hurried.
