INSTRUCTIONS TO KEY HOLD- ERS

Alarms are to be given from the box nearest the location of the fire.

Do not give an alarm for a fire seen at a distance, unless assistance is called for

To give an alarm open the door, pull the hook to the bottom of the slot once and let go. Each box con- tains a small bell, which, if heard before you pull indicates that an alarm has been previously given, and by listening at the box you will learn the number of box from which the alarm is given, but in no case will

you pull the hook while the alarm is striking. After giving the alarm re- main at the box so as to direct the firemen to the fire. Be sure that you lock the box before leaving it.

Citizens are requested to inform themselves where keys to the signal boxes are kept, signs suitably in- scribd being placed over each box giving the requisite information.

First alarm will be given by strik- ing two ormore rounds of box num- ber on gongs, bells and whistles.

Second alarm will be given by striking two blows once followed by box number on gong's, bells and whistles.

Third alarm will be given by strik- ing three blows followed by box num- ber on gongs, bells and whistles.

Fourth alarm will be given by striking four blows followed by box number on gongs, bells and whistles. Two blows, oll out signal.
