INSTRUCTIONS TO KEY HOLDERS.


Alarms to be given from the box nearest the location of the fire.


Do not give an alarm for a fire seen at a distance, unless assistance is called for.


To give an alarm. open the door, pull'the hook to the bottom of the slot once. and let go. Each box contains a small bell which, if heard before you pull, indicates that an alarm has been previously given, and by listening at the box, you will learn the number of the box from which the alarm was given, but in no case will you pull the hook while the alarm is striking. After giving the alarm, remain at the hox, so as to direct the firemen to the lire. Be sure that you lock the box be- fore leaving it.


Citizens are requested to inform themselves where keys to the signal boxes are kept. signs suitably inscrib- ed being placed over each box giving the requisite information.


First alarm will be given by striking two or more rounds of box number.


Second alarm will be given by re- peating the first alarm.


Third alarm will be given by strik- ing three blows twice on gongs, bells and whistles.


General alarm will be given by strik- ing three blows three times on gongs, bells and whistles.
