CENTRAL VILLAGE .!

This name is given to that part of Dracutt lying on the Merri- mack river, opposite Lowell. It embraces a circuit;of half a milo around Central Bridge, and is mostly laid out into streets, squares, and building lots. Ten years ago, this tract was almost without an inhabitant, where now are from 50 to 60 families, and the prospect of a rapid settlement.

There is an Academy incorporated, called the "Central Village Academy." The company has organized and secured a consiller- ble amount of funds. The site for the academy is elevated, and has a commanding view of Lowell, and all the surrounding coun- try. The building was completed in the spring of 1836, and chool commenced in June 1836.
