LOWELL INSTITUTE.
LOWELL HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION.
This Association was organized in 1840, by the several manufacturing companies in Lowell, for the convenience and comfort of persons employed by them respectively, when sick. The hospital stands at the corner of Merri- mack and Pautucket streets. The charges are $4,00 per week for men, and $3,00 for women. If the patients are able, they are to pay the superintendent ; if not able, the corporations from which they go are responsible, and the patients are then responsible to the corporations. Rela- tives or friends of patients may be admitted to visit them from 12 to 1 o'clock on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and at other times, if necessary, with a special permit from one of the Trustees, or from the physician or surgeon of the hospital.
LOWELL CEMETERY.
The Lowell Cemetery is situated on the eastern side of Concord River, a little more than one mile above its junc- tion .with the Merrimack. It comprises about forty-six acres of woodland, beautifully diversified with hill and dale. Avenues, suitable for carriages, have been laid out and graded, in various directions, with paths intersecting them, giving a general view of the whole ground. The pr ce of a lot, with choice, is twenty-five dollars. The Cemetery was solemnly consecrated, June 20, 1841.

LOWELL INSTITUTE.
This is an association of gentlemen, having for its ob- j'ct the management of a course of lectures, delivered every autumn and winter. The lectures are delivered at the City Hall, every Wednesday evening. About twelve hundred tickets are usually sold, at the low price of sev- enty-five cents for gentlemen and fifty cents for ladies.
