ARTICLE X.
That CHRIST has a visible church in the world ; that its ordinances are baptism and the Lord's Sup- per; that it is the duty of Christians to unite with this visible church, and observe its sacred ordi- nances; and that it is the privilege of believing parents to devote their children to GOD in baptism.

FORM OF ADMISSION.
ARTICLE XI.
That there will be a general resurrection of the bodies, both of the just and of the unjust; and a day of judgment, in which all must give account to CHRIST, of all the deeds done in the body ; and that then the righteous will be received into a state of blessedness, and the impenitent will go away into a state of punishment, both of which will be without end.
Dan. 12: 2. Luke 20: 37, 38. John 5: 28, 29. Acts 24: 15. 26 : 8. 1 Cor. 15 : 12-20, 35-50. Phil. 3 : 21. 1 Thess. 4 : 16 .- Eccl. 12 : 14. Matt. 12: 36. John 5: 22, 27. Acts 17: 31. Rom. 14 : 10, 12. 2 Cor. 5: 10. 2 Tim. 4 : 1. - Dan. 12: 2. Matt. 13 : 49, 50. 25: 41, 46. Mark 3 : 29. 9 : 43-48. Luke 16: 26. John 3: 36. 2 Thess. 1: 9. (C. Matt. 25: 41. Rev. 20: 10.)
Thus do you believe ?
THE COVENANT.
You do now avouch the LORD JEHOVAH to be your GOD and portion forever. You acknowledge the LORD JESUS CHRIST to be your Savior, and the HOLY SPIRIT to be your Sanctifier, Comforter, and Guide. You humbly and cheerfully consecrate to his service all your powers and possessions, and promise that you will seek above all things the honor and interests of his kingdom.
You also join yourselves to the whole body of Christ, called the Church universal, regarding your- selves as henceforward so identified with all its interests, and so unchangeably in covenant with it, that if providence removed you from one branch of it, you are bound to connect yourselves with another, as soon as you may be able.
You do also join yourselves with this Church in a more direct and special union, engaging to love and watch over its members as your brethren, and to receive from them all needful care and admonition ; to give diligent attendance with them to all parts of instituted worship ; to avoid all those worldly amuse-

THE COVENANT.
ments and vanities which are inconsistent with the spirit of the Gospel, and to live a sober, righteous and godly life.
You also bind yourselves to submit to the dis- cipline which Christ has established in his Church, and by all suitable means to seek its peace, edifica- tion, and purity.
Do you thus covenant and promise ?
[The Ordinance of Baptism, if not previously received, will be here administered.]
In consequence of these professions and promises, we, the members of this Church, [here the members of the Church will arise, ] do now enter into covenant with you. We welcome you to our fellowship and communion, and engage to watch over you with a spirit of love and tenderness, and to labor for your growth in grace, your happiness and your usefulness.
I, then, as a minister of JESUS CHRIST, do in his name acknowledge you to be members of his visible kingdom, and entitled to its privileges and blessings. This people is your people, and their GOD your GOD.
29
THE COVENANT.
And now, beloved in the Lord, remember that wherever you go, these vows will be upon you. Never without a breach of covenant, can you forsake the service of CHRIST, or withdraw from the watch and communion of his saints.
Remember also that hereafter the eyes of the world will be upon you, and as you demean your- selves, so will religion be honored or disgraced. Only let your conversation be as becometh the Gos- pel, and you will be a credit and comfort to us; but if it be otherwise, you will be to us an occasion of grief and reproach.
But, dearly beloved, we hope better things of you, and things which accompany salvation, though we thus speak. May the Lord guide and preserve you till death, and at last receive you and us to that blessed world, where our love and joy shall be for- ever perfect. Amen.
